The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus played one of their final shows of the year at Brick by Brick in San Diego. Helping them out on this short but sweet run was Garzi and The Dark!
We first saw Garzi back in 2022 when he was supporting Zero 9:36 on tour. He hit a few obstacles on that tour and didn’t have a band but still performed with tracks. We loved his drive and determination, and that alone made us a fan of his! Flash forward to now, hes got a band playing beind him and has really stepped into his own. He played hit “SICK OF ME” (orignally recorded with Travis Barker) and closed out with “MESS”, which features Sleeping With Sirens frontman Kellin Quinn.
Emerging from the shadows of Los Angeles, The Dark was up next! Fronted by Craig Johns Jr. and featuring Alan Ashby (Of Mice & Men) on guitar, The Dark’s lineup also includes bassist Nick Goins and drummer Derek Vautrinot. Having just formed this year, the band has already made waves with their debut single, “Chemicals,” which racked up over 200,000 streams on Spotify within a month and earned international radio play. Their second single, “Slip Away,” climbed active rock radio charts and cemented them as a rising force in the rock scene. They just dropped their latest single, “Head Of The Snake,” and also announced their debut EP is set to arrive on February 21st via Arising Empire. The EP is said to be an exploration into the darker themes of human nature, drawing inspiration from industrial and 90s rock like Nine Inch Nails and Deftones, blended with a modern touch. Their set was dark, mysterious as it was just silhouettes on the stage. Alan Ashby wore a fully spiked face mask, adding to the dark and mysterious aesthetic.
Formed in 2003 in the small town of Middleburg, Florida, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus quickly established themselves as a key band in the emo scene, and 21 years later they are still mainstays on our playlists. They kicked things off with “False Pretense”. They only played an 8 song which included a cover of Blink 182’s “All the Small Things,” and ending with fan favorite “Face Down.” This was one of the last shows of the year for The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus but they will return in 2025 with a couple festival apperances at Welcome to Rockville and When We Were Young.
