Rain City Drive shared their new song "Neverbloom," on June 28 via Thriller Records. This song is raw and vulnerable while opening into subjects of losing a loved one.
Speaking on the new song, lead singer Matt McAndrew said, "I wrote "Neverbloom" about my dad who passed when I was 24. I find myself thinking how I wish he could see the things I’ve accomplished and the man that I’ve become. It’s about learning to live with the reality that he only got to see the beginning of my journey, the seeds I planted, but won’t see my flowers bloom."
I’ve never had a song that hit quite so close to home before. I lost my grandfather, who was my father figure growing up, at a young age too. It’s not just the physical loss of your person, but the loss of the validations and support system they gave you. Or when something crazy happened or you achieved something and all you want to do is pick up the phone and tell that person, but you can’t. These are things that I’ve struggled with since my grandfather passed, and I have never been able to find the words to express it.
“Neverbloom” found the words to those feelings.
This new single follows the April release of “Medicate Me” which features Dayseeker‘s lead vocalist Rory Rodriguez, being the first two songs released since “Frozen” in December. Rain City Drive has been blowing up recently, especially since the release of “Medicate Me”. They gained almost 500,000 monthly listeners on Spotify in the first month of its release alone.
Catch Rain City Drive later this year as they will be joining Dayseeker in Europe and the UK this fall! Also keep your eyes open for a new RCD album coming soon-ish! ;)
