First Ever HeartSupport Fest Hits Florida This February

Jake Luhrs, lead singer of August Burns Red, and his non-profit HeartSupport have announced the first ever HeartSupport Fest. This fest is taking place on February 18 and 19 at the Central Florida Fairgrounds in Orlando. Featuring headliners Rise Against and Parkway Drive, along with The Ghost Inside, Dance Gavin Dance, Spiritbox, August Burns Red, Silverstein, Memphis May Fire, The Devil Wears Prada, Hawthorne Heights, Comeback Kid, The Word Alive, Bleed From Within, Harms Way, ‘68, He Is Legend, Bloodlines, and Prison, with more bands to still be announced!

Jake Luhrs spoke about the fest, “Our mission with HeartSupport Fest is not to recreate the festival experience, but to bring the self-care and self-love conversation to the forefront of the festival community by creating a space that promotes active dialogue around challenges that we all face, as musicians, fans, and everything in between,” he continues “I’m beyond excited to announce we will be hosting a music festival to benefit HeartSupport and the community. Having the opportunity to host a mission-based music festival with some of my favorite fellow musicians is an absolute dream come true. Our goal with HeartSupoort Fest is to create a high-energy festival experience that highlights our core values of diversity, acceptance, inclusion, self-love, and self-care, and metal health as priority.”

I first heard about HeartSupport from Blue Ridge Rock Festival. The two years that we have attended, there's been a stage called HeartSupport but I never knew what it was until this festival was announced. The story behind HeartSupport is pretty amazing. It all started one night when Jake Luhrs was sitting outside The Chicago House Of Blues. Stories he had heard of addiction, depression, self-harm, heartache, war, fear, and hopelessness filled his head. Every night, a fan would share a different story with him. Even though he’s in a very well known band, he was at a loss for how to help. He wasn’t a mental health specialist and he screamed into a mic for a living. Deep in thought all Jake knew was something had to change. Inspiration struck and that’s when he finally got his answer. He wanted to build a place where people can come exactly as they are and explore healing, provide relevant resources to an increasingly digital generation, and teach them to give back and help others grow stronger together. That’s when HeartSupport was born! Every year they help men and women heal their wounds, find purpose, and discover deep healing. Their goal is to create a legacy of life-transformation, freeing people from suicide, addiction, abuse, and mental health issues while empowering them with the realization they are loved unconditionally and supported by a community that believes in them. In the short years Jake has been running HeartSupport, he has united bands and fans alike to carry a message of hope, healing, and restoration to a scene that is typically viewed as “dark” and “without hope.”
