It’s that time of the year again! Blue Ridge Rock Festival is starting to announce their lineup for this year's edition of the fest! Rather than releasing the lineup all at once, Blue Ridge Rock Fest does it day by day for months! It’s like an advent calendar and it’s so exciting to check back on their socials everyday and be like, “No way, they’re going to be playing there, too!?” It’s great marketing on their behalf, because it really builds up the anticipation and excitement for us fans! If you're part of the “Blue Ridge Rock Festival Fan Zone” on Facebook, you have the opportunity to guess who the next artist will be announced with Todd Stone's hints!
If you know me or have read any of my articles (not even related to blue ridge) I will always find a way to bring up Blue Ridge. The two years I’ve attended Blue Ridge were some of the best days of my life! So many memories and friendships were made and I discovered some of my now favorite bands. Yes, Blue Ridge Rock Festival is not perfect by any means, but what festival is? It has its quirks but looking back, I really don’t have anything to complain about or anything that tainted my experience whatsoever.
What I love most about Blue Ridge though, is the fans vote on EVERYTHING!
From artists to experiences, to vendors, pricing, and amenities, the people get to call the shots. The Festival organizer understood the problems that occurred from past years and instead of just brushing it off like it didn’t happen, they came back and asked the people what they would want changed or added. They also did a ton of polls on their socials where we got to choose which artist we wanted to see on this year's line up.
So far, only one of the headliners has been announced and it is the all mighty Pantera! Now composed of core members Philip Anselmo and Rex Brown joined by Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Osbourne, Black Label Society) and Charlie Benante (Anthrax). This isn’t a “reunion” of Pantera, because there is no reunion without Vinnie and Dime, but it is a way to honor the brothers and bring back Pantera’s music to the fans!
The lineup so far also includes Shinedown, Megadeth, Chevelle, Parkway Drive (bringing a full pyro performance!), Pierce the Veil, Motionless in White, Coheed and Cambria, Beartooth, Highly Suspect, Coal Chamber (Reunion), Flyleaf (Original lineup reunion), The Ghost Inside, Spiritbox, Jinjer, Vince Neil, Avatar, Atreyu, Crown the Empire, Dayseeker, Senses Fail, Nonpoint, Escape the Fate, Attila (playing “about that life” in it entirety), Caskets, Rain City Drive, and many more! They have only announced about 70 artists so far out of the 144 in total that will be playing Blue Ridge Rock Festival 2023!
The Club Experience is also coming back to this year's fest. This event is held on-site after the Main Festival and provides you with concerts from 90’s/2000’s Hip Hop-Rap legends, many of which have had ties to the Rock & Metal Community. The lineup has yet to be announced but it is supposed to be the biggest Club Experience line up they’ve dropped yet! Previous Club Experience Artists have included names like Nelly, Ludacris, T-Pain, Lil Jon, and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony! They’ve also lowered this years Club Experience prices so it’s affordable for all fest goers
