Caskets closed out their first-ever North American headlining tour in San Diego at Soma Sidestage! This tour included support from Wind Walkers and Colorblind, and special guest Upon The Water who joined the lineup for this night! Coming all the way from Leeds, England, this was a very special tour for Caskets.
Upon The Water kicked off the night! This was one of their first shows back in nearly two years and it was also sort of a hometown show for them as they said they were from Southern California. They did amazing at getting the crowd warmed up and stay tuned for some new music coming from them soon!
Colorblind from Austin, TX was up next! Forming in 2017, the band released their debut EP, which has accumulated over 5 million streams. The band combines various aspects of rock, pop, and hip-hop to create a unique sound of their own which they deem “Dreamcore”. They dedicated their song “Ghost” to anyone who has someone they “can’t say hi to, can’t say bye to, or can’t stand next to” After their set, Lead Vocalist Travis William Moseley shook the hands of every single person in the crowd up by the stage.
Wind Walkers has been on my band bucket list for quite some time now and I finally got to cross them off this night! I’ve been obsessed with their latest album What If I Break since its release in late 2023 and they only played songs from that album! During their first song “Drowning Hymns”, they brought out their friend Danielle to scream the breakdown and she was amazing! Before they played “The Overlook”, they introed it with the theme from The Shining which was a fun little touch to their set. I absolutely live for the end of tour chaos. It’s mostly always the crew or bands pulling pranks on the other bands and tonight, Wind Walkers was a “victim” of the chaos. During “Bodybag”, Colorblind and Caskets came out and threw Caskets beach balls out to the crowd. Usually, people snag them right away and the excitement only lasts a couple of seconds but people were cool this time and kept the fun going, throwing the beach balls around the whole rest of the song. Lead vocalist Trevor Borg said, “Shout out to Colorblind and Caskets for making this a party!” They closed out their set with “Hang Fire”
Throughout every set change of the night, the in-house music was playing top hits from the early 2000s and honestly just added to the whole party atmosphere.
Caskets had a little spooky setup with a skeleton in a coffin and some graveyard-like fencing. I don’t know if it was special for Halloween or if it’s their usual setup, either way, I was here for it. They also had bright orange roses on the mic stand which was so cute. I love the moment the lights go down and the in house music starts playing a song we all know and love. Their “walk out” song was “Livin’ On a Prayer” which was the perfect song to get the crowd all singing together. The band walked out and they went right into their hit “Guiding Light” off their latest album Reflections released last year. We just saw Caskets over the weekend at Aftershock and I’ve seen them a few other times opening up for other bands, but it was so nice to see them finally headline! They seemed like they were totally in their element, owning that stage. They’re setlist included a mix of songs from their two albums including “Drowned In Emotions”, “Lost in Echoes”, and “Glass Heart”, before closing out with “Better Way Out”.
Caskets doesn’t have any planned shows for the rest of the year, but they were just announced to play Sonic Temple 2025! Hopefully this means they have another US tour in the books for next year as well!
